Gracie Lee Long Vargas, 78, a native of Winnfield and resident of Harvey and Thibodaux, passed away at her home Thursday, April 17, 2014.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Vargas; daughter, Cindy Vargas Richard and husband, Kenneth Richard Sr.; grandchildren, Rena Ledet and Kenny Richard Jr.; great-grandchildren; Andre' and Stevie Ledet; sisters, Earline Long Boyett and Virginia Long Rolen; brother, Earl Emery Long Jr.; two nieces; and seven nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Emery Long Sr. and Edrye Simms.
She was a teacher for 21 years at St. Rosalie Catholic School in Harvey.
