Irving D. Blanchard, 88, a native and resident of Labadieville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at the Lafourche Home for the Aged in Thibodaux. He was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Labadieville.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville. A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at the church, with burial in St. Philomena Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Martinez Blanchard; step-children, Floyd Talbot, of Labadieville, Gail T. Clause and husband, Richard, of Napoleonville, and Emile Talbot and wife, Amelie, of Thibodaux; grandchildren, Richie Clause and wife, Bonnie, of Morgan City, Wendy Hebert and husband, Chad, of Thibodaux, and Leah Reppel and husband, Justin, of Belle Chasse; great-grandchildren, Robbie Clause, Shawn Hebert and Whitney Reppel; brothers, Lawrence "Al" Blanchard, of Labadieville, and Dave Blanchard and wife, Myrtle, of Napoleonville; and sisters, Mamie Braud and husband, Charles "Bubba," of Thibodaux, Mary Ann Dill, of Thibodaux, and Lorraine Barrilleaux and husband, Gerald, of Plaquemine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence E. and Ida C. Blanchard, of Labadieville; and great-grandson, Joey Clause.
"Byrd", "Brother," "To Blanc" or "Paw Paw," as he was affectionately known to many, was a very loving and giving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family. He was a retired electrician from Nicholls.
Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.
