Jesse Bishop "Jack" Gibson, age 85, a resident of Franklinton, Louisiana, died on Monday, September 10, 2018, at his home. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army Airborne during the Korean War Era. Jack was a former resident of Houma, where he was the owner/operator of Tidelands Seafood Company Inc. and later was the owner of Desiderata Ranch Inc. Jack loved tending to his beef cattle and the hard work it took managing the land in order to have a successful ranch.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Marilyn S. Gibson of Franklinton; son and daughter-in-law, Alan Andrew Gibson and Jennifer Gibson of Houma; two daughters and son-in-law: Eve Ellen Wegler and Michael Wegler of Huntsville, Alabama, and Ann Aubin Gibson of Crested Butte, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jesse Gibson, Karl Wegler, Kate Wegler, and Kyle Wegler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee J. Gibson and Taphenia Jenkins Gibson; brothers, Gordon Gibson, Harold Gibson, Howard Gibson, Alfred Gibson, and John Gibson; and sisters, Hazel Pellegrin, Faye Galloway, Sarah Nell Williams, Evelyn Beghtol, and Geraldine Passman.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, at Crain Funeral Home, 1109 Bene Street in Franklinton. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with Dr. Gene Richards and Rev. Tom Descant officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery near Franklinton.
