Luby Joseph Freeman Jr. , 77, a native and resident of Houma, died at 2 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at 2 AM.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his companion, Dot Boudreaux; sons, Luby Freeman III of Bayou Blue and Larry Freeman Sr. of Schriever; daughter, Carrie Hebert and husband, Bryant Hebert Sr. of Bayou Blue; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd John Freeman of Houma; and sister, Linda F. Hidalgo of Houma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louby Joseph Freeman Sr. and Laura Crochet Freeman; ex-wife, Rachael Bergeron Haydel; and brother, Lawrence Philip Freeman.
He was a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a butcher for Autin Packing Company and Offshore Food Service and was currently the manager of Terminal 005's United Vision. He also owned several other businesses. He was a founding honorary member of the Bayou Blue Fire Department. He was a Mason and also a honorary member of the Houma Shrine Club, Elks Lodge, The Grottos and the Lion's Club.
He was a devoted Saint's fan and his favorite pastimes were Video Poker and riding his lawnmowers.
