Lucy Mae Rome Hymel, 72, a native and lifelong resident of Vacherie, entered peacefully into heaven Tuesday, July 1, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Philip Catholic Church at 1175 La. 18 in Vacherie. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She was the devoted wife of the late Wilfred Hymel Sr.; loving mother of Rebecca Hebert, Wilfred Hymel Jr., Blaise Hymel, and Ramona Hymel; proud grandmother of six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Myrtle Scioneaux Rome and Frank A. Rome; sister of Leroy Rome, Adeline R. Migues and Doris R. Richardel; and preceded in death by her sisters and brothers; Florence Chiasson, Rose Mary Rome, Eddie Rome, Lloyd Rome, Harry Rome, Clifton Rome, Tillman Rome; granddaughter, Erica Jazz Hymel; and daughter-in-law, Cindy R. Hymel.
