Melvin "Pye" Foret, 71, a native and resident of Chauvin, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral time today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Fuggie" Foret; son, John Foret and wife, Bridget Bergeron Foret; daughter, Marie Patrice Foret and companion Anthony Nettleton Jr.; two brothers, Billy Foret and wife, Connie, and Jackie Foret and wife, Pauline; and one grandchild, Bobby Jo Foret.
He is also survived by Anthony, Blake, Coby, Brian, and Elmer "Buddy" Stringer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Rita Foret; son, Charles Douglas Foret; and one grandson, Josiah Micheal Freeman.
He was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Council. He was a worker at Lagniappe on the Bayou. He was a very active member of the community but especially with St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank M.D. Anderson, Dr. Abou Issa, Dr. Robert Alexander, Southern Care Hospice and the many supportive people throughout this difficult time.
