Darryl Dean Burke, 72, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette.
Visitation will be observed from 9 a.m. to funeral time today at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with interment at Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Rev. Charles McMillan, Pastor of in Our Lady Help of Christians in Jennings, will officiate.
Mr. Burke is survived by his two daughters, Angelle Marie Burke Phipps and husband, Barry, and Lisa Clair Guidry and husband, Keith; and one son, Toby Mark Burke, all of Lafayette; five siblings, Brenda Bojarski of Forest Hill, Md., Michael Gene Burke of Houma, Marsha Sieber of Carencro, Byron Burke of Houston, and Thomas Burke, also of Houma; four grandchildren, Rikki Faulkenberry of Natchez, Miss., Tabitha Phipps of Lafayette, and Jesse and Mindy Landry of Alexandria; three great-grandchildren, Delany and Alex Faulkenberry of Natchez, Miss. and Malachi Landry of Alexandria; and numerous dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Burke; his parents, Solomon Morgan Burke and the former Doris Edel Daly; and one sister, Donna G. Crawley.
Darryl was born Nov. 26, 1939 in Lafayette and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. He was a surveyor with John Chance & Associates and retired after 28 years of service.
Darryl loved sports and attending food festivals with Toby. His family fondly remembers his passion for woodwork and cooking. He had a special gift and faithfulness of bringing joy to any situation. He will be missed by all.
The family wishes to thank Our Lady of Lourdes, Lafayette Physical Rehabilitation Center and AMG Specialty Hospital for the compassionate care given to Darryl and his family.
