Janita "Nita" Galiano Picou, 78, a native of Lockport and resident of Cut Off, died at 3:28 a.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Cut Off. Mass will be held at noon Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Picou and wife, Cyndi, Tommy Picou and wife, Susan, and Paul Picou and wife, Paige; daughters, Phyllis Guidry and husband, Wayne, and Natalie Blair and husband, Robert Sr.; brother, Richard "Dickie" Galiano and wife, Bernice; sister, Genevieve G. "Tootsie" Hymel; and 10 grandsons, three step-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack J. Picou; parents, Alcide Galiano and Jeanne Gautreaux Galiano; one grandson; and one brother, Robert "Bobby" Galiano.
She was Catholic.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.
