Bernadette Torbert

Bernadette Authement Torbert, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at her residence in Scott surrounded by her family.

The family requests that visitation be observed from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday in Martin & Castille's Downtown location, with a Rosary recited by Ray Domingue at 9 a.m. Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Howard Blessing, The Rev. of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Celebration of Life service. Giftbearers will be Sarah Sanders and James Dockery. Lector will be Ray Domingue. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Ave Maria", "One Bread, One Body", "I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy" and " Pie Jesu".

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Kathy Sanders and husband, John; one son, David Dockery; four grandchildren, Tessie Randolph, James Dockery, Sarah Sanders and Aaron Sanders; three great-grandchildren, Kylie Renée Cormier, Katelyn Jenée Cormier and Jadon James Dockery; her beloved poodle, "Pesh Mignon Authement"; two sisters, Beverly Trosclair and husband, James, and Agatha King and husband, Mike; two brothers, Bruce Authement and wife, Evelyn, and Samuel Authement and wife, Marlene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl P. Dockery Jr.; second husband, Thomas L. Torbert Jr.; parents, Evois J. and Ida Bourg Authement; and brother, Edgar Peter Authement.

Bernadette Authement was born on April 10, 1944 in Terrebonne Parish. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Bernadette was a licensed floral designer who worked for various flower shops throughout Louisiana for more than 30 years. She was also a part of the Martin & Castille Funeral Home Family where she worked part-time, assisting and comforting grieving families with a warm smile and a caring heart. She cherished her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Bernadette will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
