Noella Charitat
Noella Orgeron Charitat, 89, a native of Cut Off and resident of Thibodaux, died at 5:35 pm. on June 5, 2012.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 pm. on Sun. at Landry's Funeral Home and on Mon. at 10 to 11 am. at Christ Redeemer Catholic Church followed by a mass at 11 am. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
She was the mother of Kim "Michelle" Folse, Dr. Maurice "Bud" Charitat Jr., William "Christine" Schwartz and Henry "Chip" Charitat.
She is survived by two brothers, Clyde Orgeron and JD Orgeron and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice R. Charitat, parents, Augustin and Nola Orgeron and her brother, Lloyd Orgeron.
She was part of the Lafourche Parish School system for more than 30 years. Her early years were spent teaching, and mid-way through her career, she became a librarian due to her love of reading books.
She was a member of the Mothers Club of E.D. White and was fondly known as "Mama-ta" among her children's friends.
After retirement she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Thibodaux General Hospital and participated in numerous clubs and activities.
Finally, the family would like to thank Mrs. Ann Thibodaux and the residents and staff of St. Joseph Manor for the special year our mother was a resident.
The family would also like to express special thanks to Drs. Chester and Ann Boudreaux and children for their love and devotion shown to our mother throughout the years.
Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
