Ann Gauthreaux
Ann Schwab Gauthreaux, 80, passed away peacefully on Mon., June 11, 2012 at 11:45 pm. at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, surrounded by family and friends.
Visitations will be Thurs. June 14 , 2012 from 6 pm. till 9 pm. at Landry's Funeral Home and from 8 am. till funeral time on Fri.
Funeral services will be at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville, on Fri. June 15, 2012 with a mass at 11 am. The burial will be held at the church cemetery.
She was born in Labadieville, LA on June 9, 1932, graduated from Assumption High in 1950. She married her loving husband of 32 years in 1953 at which time was employed by Thiac Motors and in 1964, she devoted the next 32 years of her life as Secretary and bookkeeper for St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville until her retirement in 1996.
During those years she shared her time, talent and treasure to her church, St. Philomena School and community.
With true devotion and love not only as parish secretary to numerous priest, but as several officer positions on SPS's PTA while her children attended school there and for numerous years on committees for the Labadieville Community Fair.
Even after retirement she continued to spend countless hours volunteering for her church and school.
She also held office positions for the St. Philomena Ladies Altar Society, the Labadieville's American Legion Auxiliary, and Assumption High Band Boosters.
She was a loving, caring, concerned and advice-giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister-in-law, always keeping up with their lives until death.
She will be remembered for her strong faith, ever ending smile, joy for life, and friendships that she made throughout her life.
Ann is survived by daughter Virgin Ross and husband Chester, son David Gauthreaux and wife Marjorie (Walsh) of Thibodaux, grandson Mark Ross, granddaughter Desiree' (Ross) Falcon and husband Blake, family friend Wendy Ledet, great-grandchildren, Anthony, Adrian, Gaige, Camyrn, and Alora, nieces, Susan B. Lagrange, the Gauthreaux family nephews and nieces, Bobby, Ray, Ted, Rodney, Daniel, Conrad, Mike, Kenneth, Gary, and Eric Gauthreaux, Ruth Chaisson, Gloria Drash, Susan Bolotte, Carolyn Martinez, Cindy Medus, Brenda Diaz, Betty Lomonsco, Adele Naquin, Tina Boyd and Nickie Adams and numerous great nieces and nephews. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Felix, Eunice, Celine, Roy, Shirley, Hattie Gauthreaux and Eula Prejean. A host of Schwab/Himel family, cousins and her numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester N. Gauthreaux, parents, Desire (Nanoot) and Luida Himel Schwab, Jr. a sister Marylyn S. Boudreaux, mother and father in-law Alcide and Ophelia T. Gauthreaux, brothers and sisters-in-law Mercedes, Andrew, Rose, Claude, Effie, Clifford, Loucella, Wilton, Annie, Alcide, Jr., Wilbert and Norman Gauthreaux, nephews Earl, Paul and Ronald Gauthreaux.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph's Hospice, Audubon Health and Rehab, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, Drs. Chaisson, Boudreaux, Soignet, Wong, Stuben and B.W. Hillman, Sr., cousin Pat Landry, her devoted caregiver Diedra Ray and the many family and friends who supported us during her illness.
At her request, in lieu of flowers, please give masses in her memory.
