Clayton Gervais Domangue, a native of Houma born on March 23, 1927, died on June 25, 2012 with his family by his side.
Clayton donated his body to the LSU Board of Anatomical Sciences and there will be no funeral. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at a future date determined by the family.
He is survived by his son Earl P. "Buddy" Domangue and wife Nicole Landry Domangue, both of Houma, four grandchildren, Torrin Domangue, Alexandra Domangue, Mia Domangue, all from Houma, Jessica Ann Duplantis Hungerford of Marietta GA., one great grandchild, Clark Franklin "Trip" Hungerford III, one brother Richard J. Domangue of Houma, four sisters, Ramona Domangue Lirette of Houma, Elaine Domangue Cogliati of Walnut Creek, CA, Marion Domangue Weisheit of Houma, and Gail Domangue Michel of Houma, plus several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gervais J. Domangue of Houma, his loving wife of 56 years Mona Gros Domangue, a daughter, Lisa Domangue Duplantis a resident of Marietta, GA, and a grand daughter Emily Jane Duplantis also of Marietta, GA.
He was a Korean War Combat Veteran, serving with the US. Army 279 Infantry as a staff Sergeant. He was a life long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars assigned to Post #3700, a life time member of the national Rifle Association. a life time member of Ducks Unlimited, and a former Exalted Ruler of the Fraternal Order of Elks, Lodge No. 1193.
Known as "Capt. Clayton", he was a 40 years service retiree of Jay Ray McDermott, Inc, one of only two employees to be honored with that award up until that time. His service to that profession carried him and his family around the world on several overseas assignments.
In lieu of flowers, Clayton requested that you honor US. Veterans by donating to your favorite Veterans Organization.
The family would like to thank all those caregivers who made his last days a blessing. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
