Rita Rollins

Rita Laray Rollins, 58, a resident of Gray and native of New Orleans, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at her home.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday at Christ Missionary Baptist Church in Houma. Burial will be in the Halfway Cemetery in Grey.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory B. Sam; seven sons, Tyrone Rollins, Kerry Rollins, Jessie Rollins, Byron Causey, Jonathan Thompson, Roderick Johnson and Gregory Poindexter; two daughters, Kayla Payne and Rontell "Noonie" Poindexter; her brother, Willie Johnson; 22 grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Louvienna Johnson; her son, Lamark Johnson; her brother, Jessie Johnson; and two sisters, Josephine Johnson and Augustine Thompson Causey.

Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.
