Rita Lucille Daspit Duplantis, 93, a native and resident of Houma, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Bayou Black Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Gable John Duplantis Jr. and wife, Vylia; daughters, Ruby Roberts and husband, Leon, Betty Hebert and husband, Clarence, Brenda Savell and husband, Jerry, Gale Louviere and husband, Jerome, and Debra Breaux and husband, Glenn; grandchildren, Leon Roberts Jr. and Jennifer Rigby, Kent, Kyle and Korey Hebert, Kristi Cagle, Tina Broekman, Shannon Porche, Monique Hughes and Jerome Louviere Jr., Christopher, Casey, Chancey and Chad Duplantis, Amy Theriot and Dusty Breaux; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Gable Duplantis Sr.; parents, Joseph Daspit and Alida Leonard Daspit; brothers, Joseph and John Daspit; and sisters, Mildred Metternich, Sara Lapeyrouse and Etta Tastet.
She retired from TGMC's Dietary Department. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
