Louis "Cookie" P. Griffin Sr., 84, a native of Leeville and resident of Golden Meadow, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Louis Griffin Jr. and wife, Patsy, Curment Griffin and wife, Mona, Edwanna Kieff and husband, John, Maureen Pagliughi and husband, Peter, Dean Griffin and wife, Holly, and Ernie Griffin and wife, Chantel; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dudline "Rat" Vizier Griffin; parents, Joseph M. Griffin and Adrienne G. Griffin; grandson, Darby Cheramie; brothers, Adam, Webb, Forrest, Leander, and Daniel Griffin Sr.; infant brother, William Griffin; sisters, Eva Doucet and Mandy Cheramie; and infant sister, Josephine Griffin.
Louis loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, hunting and dancing. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a past Admiral and Grand Knight. He was a member of the Altar Society, Holy Name Society, Texaco Retirees Club, and Friends of Special Citizens.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts during this time. They would like to extend special thanks to Father Henry at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Lady of the Sea Hospital, River Region Hospice, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center and Cancer Center and their respective staffs for the care provided to Louis.
