Charles "Chuck" Gerard Leonard, was born July 2, 1950, a native of Marrero and longtime resident of Labadieville and recently of Thibodaux, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones Sunday, April 27, 2014, from complications of a long term illness.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susanne Hebert Leonard; sister, Jane Leonard Benoit who is married to J. Keith Benoit, of Lafayette; sisters-in-law, Cathy B. Hebert, Beryl H. Lapeyrouse, and Lillian Hebert Nelton; brother-in-law, Karl "Pee Wee" Hebert Jr.; mother-in-law, Sybil Richard Hebert; uncle, Ike Dugas, of Baton Rouge; nephews and nieces, Sam Naff and wife, Theresa, Ben Naff and wife, Emily, and Rachel Naff Looney, all from Nashville, Tenn., Beryl Lynn Bush and husband, Tony of Kingwood, Texas, Lara Bernard and husband, Ben, Paul Andrew Lapeyrouse, and Heidi Blanchard and husband, Shane; great-nephews and nieces, Matthew, Sarah, Gabrielle and Alex Naff, Jackson and Thatcher Looney, Sean and Aaron Bush, Dylan Howell, Alex Lapeyrouse, Logan Bernard, and Kaston Blanchard, Haley, and Hunter Broussard, and Kendal, Lauren, and Blake Taylor; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Gerard Leonard and Bessie Dugas Leonard; father-in-law, Karl "Pee Wee" Hebert Sr.; niece, Kasi Nelton; and nephew, Kenneth Benoit.
He loved his career as an art teacher and adored his students as well as they did him. He enjoyed reading, gardening, his artwork, and his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Association of Thibodaux or to the of Thibodaux.
