Bernice M. Morrison Giandelone, 97, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, at Morgan City Healthcare Center.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Greg Fratt officiating. Bernice will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following mass.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, Johnny Giandelone and wife, Fern, of Morgan City, and Benny Giandelone and wife, Gale, of Bayou L'Ourse; grandchildren, Joey Giandelone, of Broussard, Janet Giandelone Broussard and husband Keith, of Cecilia, Johnny P. Giandelone and wife, Connie, of Katy, Texas, Lane Giandelone and wife, Melissa, of Labadieville, and Kirk Giandelone, of Prairieville; and great-grandchildren, Joni, Jaci, Jami, Joey Jr., Hanna, and Jenna Giandelone.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Maurice "Joe" Giandelone; brothers, Sterling, Charles, and William "Bill" Morrison; and sisters, Adeline Blanco, Cordelia Brown, Linda Clements, Carrie Strickland, and Lelia Keller.
Bernice was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Bayou L'Ourse, the daughter of Benjamin and Adeline Landry Morrison. She was a woman of very strong catholic faith as well as a strong willed individual who was known to be the backbone of her family. She enjoyed family gatherings but enjoyed cooking for her family even more. She used to love gardening with her husband and was a lover of all animals.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morgan City Healthcare Center for the loving care that they gave Bernice during her time there, as they went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable. The family would also like to thank Doctor Melancon for the care he provided.
