Yvonne graduated with honors from Terrebonne High School in 1956 and then received a R.N. diploma from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1959.
Yvonne touched many lives with her gentle loving spirit during her 42 year nursing career in which she worked at Terrebonne General, Dauterive Hospital, LaSalette Memorial Hospital in Loreauville, and the Iberia Parish Health Unit.
Yvonne was always proud of her association with her Terrebonne High School classmates, Mercy Hospital Nurses Alumnae, Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Yvonne valued all of her friendships that evolved from these associations and made efforts to remain connected.
She looked forward to going to craft shows with her husband, gatherings with family and friends, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, visiting the elderly, playing pokeno with the same group for more than 50 years, watching professional and college football on television, and exercising at Curves.
Special appreciation goes to the Ambassadors for Christ Prayer Group for faithfully devoting their time to spiritually lift up Yvonne and others in the community; family and friends for all of the visits, prayers, cards, phone calls, support and encouragement; and lastly, those who assisted with her health care, particularly Joyce Green and Hospice of Acadiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to: St. Joseph's Completion Campaign, 117 S. Main St. Loreauville, LA 70552.
"Pray for us Oh Holy Mother of God that her example of strength in suffering and unwavering faith will bring inspiration to those who loved her, and that she will take her rightful place among the Angels in Heaven."
