Rufus Bell

Rufus Richard Bell, 60, a native and of lifelong resident of Donaldsonville, died Friday, June 3, 2011.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Williams and Southall Funeral Home, 101 Loop 945, Donaldsonville and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2129 La. 1 South, Donaldsonville. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Collins Bell; one son, Ty Eric and wife, Sandra Bell of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Natasha L. Bell and Feliciana Rodriguez of Donaldsonville; three sisters, Yvonne Bell-Baker of Baker, Victoria M. Bell and Sylvia and husband, Monroe Williams of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Victor E. Bell of Austin, Texas, Rev. Vernell and wife, Deborah Bell, and Ronald Bell all of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Bell; his maternal grandparents, Rufus and Ardele Collins; his paternal grandparents, Eddie and Flora Bell; one brother, Clinton Bell; and nephew, Ronell Bell.

He was an employee with the Dept. of Transportation and Develpment, District 61, Gang 550. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Donaldsonville is in charge of arrangements.
