Archie Stringer

Archie A. Stringer, 94, a native of Chauvin and resident of 4351, Madonna Drive, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at his residence.

Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church with the Rev. Elbano Nunez officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park on S. Cherry Road with Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army and The American Legion Frank Roach Post 34 Honor Guards.

He is survived by one son, James Stringer and wife, Ann of Conyers, Ga.; two daughters, Colette Adams and husband, Buck, of Rock Hill and Mitzie Noyce and husband, Rick, of Mebane, N.C.; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Martial and Martha Duplantis Stringer; his wife, Vera Flynn Stringer; five brothers, Joseph Aibel Allie Stringer, Aurlie Henry Stringer, Hebert F. Stringer, Middleton "Tinne" Stringer and Macon J. Stringer; and seven sisters, Lucretia "Sissy" Stringer Bourg, Fannie Stringer Lapeyrouse, Dussie Stringer Guidry, Bessie Stringer Robinson, Hazel Stringer Picou, Rosabelle Stringer Morales and Vallie Stringer Viguerie.

He was born Aug. 7, 1916. He was a retired pipe fitter, attended LSU, and was a U.S. Army veteran of 82nd Airborne 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment with 3 combat jumps. Mr. Stringer was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic School, 1694 Bird St. Rock Hill, SC 29732.
