Roderick Wayne Powell, 44, a native of Sulphur and resident of Houma, died at 7:37 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 10:30 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2
He is survived by his wife, Bootsy Flanagan Powell of Houma; sons, Randal Wayne Powell of Mont Belvieu, Texas, and Joshua Paul Naquin of Houma; daughters, Hayley Flangan McCutcheon of Houma and Brooke Alexandra Argyilan of Gulfport, Miss.; parents, Robert W. Powell of Lafayette and Janice Freeman Powell of Houston; granddaughter, Peyton Rene of Mont Belvieu, Texas; and brothers, Robert William Powell II of Las Vegas and Ryan Willis Powell of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dewey and Mabel Melancon Freeman, and Floyd and Pauline Powell.
Rod was a master auto body technician and custom fabricator for 20 plus years. He was a loving husband and father and friend. He was an avid fisher, hunter, gardener and Saints fan; a wonderful artist and very giving person.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
