Wayne Kenneth Benoit, 67. a native and resident of Houma, and former resident of San Diego, Calif., died Tuesday, June 25, 2013.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Living Word Church, 1916 Hwy. 311 in Schriever.
He is survived by his children, Gregory Benoit, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Anne Benoit, of Houma; granddaughters, Mary Benoit and Samantha Pope; and siblings, Danny Benoit, Alvin Benoit, Patsy Boudreaux and Sally Chauvin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Mae Benoit; and his parents, Alvin Joseph Benoit and Lorecia Emily Benoit.
Wayne was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather and husband. A great source of pride for his family was his service to his country during his more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He also served as a scout master in the Boys Scouts of America, where he was able to enjoy some of his favorite pastimes of camping and hiking. He was a skillful craftsman, carpenter and avid chef. His delicious food, his smile, his laughter, his wisdom, and most of all, his loving heart will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honor may be made to either the Living Word Church, or the Disabled American Veterans Organization.
