Joseph R. Durocher, 66, a native of Choupic and resident of Gray, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014.
Visitation will from 5 p.m. until funeral time Thursday at Thibodaux Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial to take place at a later date.
He is survived by his brothers, William W. Durocher Jr. and wife, Pat, and Bradford J. Durocher and wife, Theresa; sisters, Elvie Duplantis and husband, Mark, and Ora Dempster and husband, Dale; seven nephews; one niece; nine great-nephews; and four great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William W. Durocher Sr. and Ruth Melancon Gros; grandparents, Leonard "Banana" Melancon Sr. and Marie Faucheaux Melancon; and uncles, L.J. Melancon Jr. and Leander Melancon.
He retired from Winn Dixie and Rouse's and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He enjoyed watching Saints and L.S.U. football and baseball.
