LINDA CORE AL-ALAWIPassed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, in Houston at the age of 65. Born in Hayward, California, she grew up in Baker, Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University where she met her husband, Nabil Al-Alawi. They moved to Houston in 1965.Being married to an oilfield man, what followed were several decades of international adventure in Kuwait, Switzerland, Egypt, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. After raising three children in six countries and visiting scores more, Linda moved back to Houston permanently in 1993.Having a warm and generous nature, Linda affected the lives of countless people all over the world. To many, she was the mother they never had or wished that they had, a kindly aunt, an older sister, a true friend. Her memory will be cherished forever by those who found her near and dear.Linda is survived by husband Nabil Al-Alawi; son Ibrahim "Billy" Al-Alawi and daughter-in-law Kathy; daughters Nadia & Rhonda Al-Alawi; son-in-law Bob Maroni; grandson Khalid Al-Alawi; granddaughters Maya & Mira Maroni; brothers Jimmy Reed and Bruce Drennan and their families; sisters Carmen Reed Powers, Bettyanne Reed Beckelheimer, and Nancy Reed and their families.Linda's remains will be cremated and returned to her home in Houston which she loved so much.
