Maxine HULL Obituary

Maxine McDermott Hull went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, the 3rd of November 2011, at the age of 89.
Maxine was born to Ethel and Ralph Thomas McDermott in Eastland, Texas, on the 4th of December 1921. Her family moved to Houston in 1932 where she attended Poe Elementary School, Lanier Jr. High and graduated from Lamar High School in 1939. She met the love of her life, Tommie Hull, (Thomas Phillip Hull, Jr.) her sophomore year at The University of Texas in 1941. Their first kiss was on the bench in front of Scottish Rite Dorm which led to 63 years of marriage. Tommie went to be with the Lord in 2005.
Maxine's Christian faith was expressed in her care and love for her family and in a generous spirit of giving that God placed in her. She blessed many people with her gifts of love and encouragement and she blessed many monetarily. She was a wonderful mother of strong, godly character and convictions. Her assurance of salvation was based on God's grace extended to her through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church. The Reverend Larry Hall was a special friend to her.
In these last few years Maxine was loved and cared for by her dear caregiver and friend Adelaida Diaz, who was in her employment for 20 years. The other caregivers who loved her with great tenderness were: Maria G. Rosales, Kimbly Turner, Elida Aguilar and Maria Narvaez.
Maxine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Jennie Hull of Houston, and her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Mac Northington of Boerne. She leaves behind five grandchildren Thomas Phillip Northington and wife Kristan, Mona Northington George and her husband Perry, Ralph Thomas Hull, Jr and wife Maureen, McCann Heard Northington and wife Margye, Mark Delaney Hull and wife Leslie, and nine great grandchildren.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 14th of November, at The Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Laurens A. Hall, Rector, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Sumners Hall.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family has requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Maxine's name be directed to The Rafiki Foundation, PO Box 1988, Eustis, FL, 32727-1988; The Church of St. John the Divine Memorial Endowment Fund, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard, Houston, TX, 77019; or to charity of one's choice.
"And thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him. And this is eternal life that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent." John 17: 2-3.

Mrs. Hull Sr. was such a kind and loving lady. I will never forget her. She was a warm and loving person who made her presence known and lit up a room as soon as she walked in. Mrs. Hull will always be in our hearts and memories.
May she rest in peace with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
