Leo was a great guy. I remember him at the front door of the church at the greek festival, always helping. We will miss him. RIP

Thoughts on the passing of Leo Kalantzakis. I was one of the original (Rubaiyat)waitresses. I can remember the band, "The Great Johnny Williams", red headed Leo O'Neil on keyboards, Eddie Nations, and Danny Ward wailing out a Stevie Wonder or maybe an Al Green tune. Some of the unforgettable waitresses were (short)Patty Gonzales, (tall) Patti, Eukie, Martha Savage, Carole Sturges, Silvia Vela, Linda Callender, Karin Cagle, Linda (who married) Alex the bartender and moved to Greece, Doreen, and Sandy Carrigan. The managers included Roland Montemayor, Aly, John Hishmonti, and Earl Hoover. I still have my bejeweled velvet tunic costume. Now my granddaughter plays dress up in it and calls it Grandmother's (queen)suit. I see Leo in a black silk pinstriped suit, wide tie, and wearing a nice fragrance. I remember the fun loving young Persian busboys and bar backs... What I wouldn't give for one more day of balancing my tray of drinks served in long stemmed balloon glasses. Thanks for the memories Mr. Kalantzakis. Becky Shannon

Leo was one of the best brother-in-laws a person could ever have. He was always a kind and generous person to our family. I can't believe that he is gone from our family forever. Remembering like it was yesterday, when he and Lynda started dating. They would always come visit us in Groves. He has been a part of our family for over 40 years. We will truly miss you Leo. All my love goes out to Lynda, George and Alana.
