Cecil Garrison

Cecil R. Garrison, of Houston, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2013, at the age of 94. Cecil was born in Garrison, Texas on August 3, 1919, grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and later moved to Houston in 1975. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. He will always be remembered for his gentle nature and sense of humor, as well as his sense of integrity and love of his family. He treasured pictures and memories of his life and shared them often with his family. He has been a member of Tallowood Baptist Church of Houston, Texas for the last 38 years.
He graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport in 1940 with a B.A. degree in Commerce. Cecil served in WWII in England in the 100th Bomb Group. He was a dedicated worker at United Gas Pipeline for 41 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Naoma of 63 years. He is survived by sons Philip and wife Pam of Houston, Texas, Paul and wife Estelee of Houston, Texas, grandchildren Alicia of Houston, Texas and Alan of Keller, Texas, brother-in-law Edward Smith and wife Marian of Missouri City, Texas, and nieces and nephew.
Services were held on Saturday, October 19, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Carl Rhoads of First United Methodist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana presided over the service. Interment followed at the Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent in Shreveport.
