Darryl Scott Lewis

DARRYL SCOTT LEWIS, passed away all too soon on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the age of 50. A true people person, he enriched the lives of everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed. Darryl was a loving, kind and considerate husband, father, son, brother, nephew and friend. He treasured his family and friends and brought joy and light-hearted humor to everyday life.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Martha Brown Lewis, son Jacob Pierce, 13, son Alexander Stuart, 11, mother Donna Glick Lewis, brother Greg Lewis and his wife Bonnie, nieces Lara, 18, and Ania, 14, his aunt, Marsha Weil and uncles and aunts Harvey & Gail Lewis and Lanny and Marilyn Glick. His father, Stuart Charles Lewis, preceded him in death.
Darryl was a member of the Houston Congregation for Reform Judaism. He volunteered with Boy Scouts and Goodwill.
Darryl attended the Kinkaid School for 12 years. He graduated from University of Texas with a degree in History, and University of Houston with a Masters degree in Training and Development. He worked in the benefits administration industry.
Even facing the unimaginable challenges and choices of his last months, Darryl continued to be warm, loving, and engaging with all who came to visit. Darryl's abiding love of life and others made him truly exceptional.
A funeral service and celebration of Darryl's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 2nd at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine, with Rabbi Steve Gross officiating.
Following the funeral service, friends are cordially invited to join the family for a reception at the home of Darryl and Martha Lewis, 12107 Overcup Drive, Houston, TX 77024.
In lieu of flowers or customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Darryl and Martha Lewis Family Trust, 5090 Richmond Avenue #461, Houston, TX 77056.
