Donald Hilberg

Donald Everett
of Spring, Texas passed peacefully on the 20th February 2013 at the age of 88. Born in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, Don was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Pacific Campaign of World War II, attaining the rank of Motor Machinist Mate First Class. Using his GI Bill benefits, Don was able to earn a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1952. Following graduation, Don joined Esso's (now ExxonMobil) Venezuelan affiliate Creole. It was in Venezuela where he met his wife Betty Ann and both of his sons were born. Don worked for Esso for over 35 years, working entirely overseas in Venezuela, Libya, Iran and Great Britain. After retiring in 1983, Don and Betty Ann lived in Battle Ground, Washington prior to moving to Texas in 2006. Don enjoyed many activities through his life including sailing, traveling, golf, visiting with friends and family.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Betty Ann Russell Hilberg. Don is survived by sons Karl and Gary, daughter-in-laws Julie and Jody, grandchildren Kyle, Ryan and Hanna, sister in laws Carol Russell and Mary Katherine Hilberg, and Cousin Jan Aho.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel at the Villages at Gleannloch Farms, 9505 Northpointe Blvd, Spring, TX 77379 at 2:04PM on Thursday the 7th of March, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 815 Market Street, Galveston, TX 77550-2725.
