James Glassco

James Russell Glassco Jr., of McLean, VA, died Nov 13 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax VA. He was born January 17, l925 in St. Louis MO, the son of the late James R. Glassco and Leta Heim Glassco.
He served 4 years in the US Navy during WWII and graduated from Trinity College, Hartford CT, in l950. From l974 until his retirement in l993 he was Treasurer of the US Postal Service. From l953 until l960 he he held positions with the Anderson Clayton Co. and the National Bank of Commerce in Houston TX. From l960 until l973 he worked for the Aetna Life & Casualty Co. in Hartford, CT. His retirement provided time for serious participation in Masters athletics, including the National Senior Games where he won many medals for swimming. He also held, and still holds, age group records in swimming in Virginia. In addition, he enjoyed tennis, golf and bridge.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of McLean, and 3 sons: James M. and Benjamin B., also of McLean, and William S. of Tiverton, RI.
