James McClendon

James Lowell ("Jack") McClendon, Sr., D.D.S. passed away 6 July 2013 at the age of 86. He was born January 29, 1927 in Houston, Texas to the late Ezra James McClendon and Bessie Day McClendon.
Jack and his beloved spouse resided near Brenham at Hickory Glen Farm. Dr. McClendon graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and UTHSC-Dental Houston. His specialty training as an oral-maxillofacial surgeon included a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN and University of Minnesota Postgraduate School of Medicine. He was a Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. McClendon retired in 1987 as Professor Emeritus University of Texas Health Science Center-Dental-Houston. Upon retiring from private practice of oral surgery in 1993, he began a second career in Brenham. He continued his avid interest in history by writing and serving as a Director of local museums, historical societies and foundations.
Jack is survived by his wife Tanya Golibart McClendon; daughter Theresa Anne Werner, son James L. McClendon, Jr., grandson Thomas James Werner; step-daughters Tiana Covington and Leith Keller, five step grandaughters, four step great grandaughters and nephew Walid Abdulahad and a great neice and nephew. He was predeceased by Anne Glavin McClendon the mother of his children, niece Jacqueline Abdulahad, and son-in-law Eric T. Werner. Dr. McClendon willed his body to U.T. Health Science-Medical-Houston.
