James Montz

James D Montz was born in New Orleans, LA in 1927 and died in Horseshoe Bay TX. He was twice a widower in marriages to Ann Waguespack Montz for 31 years and to Ann Gaushell Montz for 20 years. He is survived by his two sons David and Keith Montz, daughter in law Johnna and grand children Derek, Taylor and Megan.
Jim grew up in Houston and attended University of Texas for 2 years then went on to graduate from College of Santa Fe NM in 1950. He tough with the Christian Brothers for 3 years. He served in the army during the latter part of the Korean War where he received his commission as an officer at graduation from the officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA and completed his service as a cadre officer at the school. Following this he started a 31 year career with Prudential Insurance Co of America. Various management and executive jobs were held. Retired in Sugar Land then moved to Horseshow Bay.
Jim was a devout Catholic through out his life. He became a very active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in HSB. He served as head of the parish Council for 4 years and then as head of the finance council for 4 more years. Choir membership during all this time was a special joy! He loved tennis and played till he reached his 85th birthday. He enjoyed his many friends why playing duplicate bridge. He was also involved in many charitable and social services over the years.
A mass Celebration of Jim's life will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Horeshoe Bay TX on October 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
