Jean Knolle

Jean Knolle, 98, passed away Nov 6, 2012, at Houston Hospice. Visitation 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, Nov 9th at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, followed by the Vigil at 7:00 pm Friday. Mass will be held 10:30 am Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George Street, Rosenberg, Texas 77471, followed by interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX.
Jean Catherine Neubauer Knolle was born January 3, 1914, in De Pere, Wisconsin to Joseph J. and Laura (Mularky) Neubauer. She completed her Bachelor's degree in home economics from the University of Minnesota and worked as a dietician at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D. C. In 1941, she accepted a position at the Army Station Hospital of Camp Hulen in Palacios, Texas, where she met and married Captain Ben E. Knolle, M.D. When Dr. Knolle was deployed to the Pacific Theatre at the outbreak of World War II, Jean took at position at the Veteran's Hospital in Hines, Illinois. Later, she returned to Texas and completed her Master of Science Degree in Home Economics at the University of Texas while her husband remained overseas. After the war, Jean and Ben located to Rosenberg where she raised her three daughters and became very active in many organizations.
Preceded in death by husband, Dr. Ben E. Knolle and brothers, Donald, David, Richard, John, and Robert. Survived by daughters Kristine and Mike Moser of Houston, Kathleen and Randy Ransleben of Houston, Carol and Alan Jankowski of Bluffton; grandchildren Michael Moser and wife Trish of Florida and David and Symbol Moser of Indiana and Rachel Ransleben; and great grandchildren Cole and Brennan Moser.
In accordance with Jean's strong belief in and support for education, memorials can be made to Holy Rosary Catholic School, 1416 George Street, Rosenberg, Texas 77471 or to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030-4123.
