Kenneth Wait, 92, co-founder and vice chairman of what grew to be the largest TeleCheck franchise, passed on Friday, April 11, 2014.
Ken grew up on a small farm in Indiana. He flew B-17 combat missions over Germany in WWII with the 8th Air Force's 306th Bombardment Group, earning a Purple Heart
and Air Combat medals. After military service, he earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University
Ken is survived by two daughters (Carol Ames Sewell and Barbara Young), five grandsons (Garrett, Garner and Jordan Ames; and Ryan and Morgan Young); and his new great grandson (Trent). He is preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years Jean Wait and his second wife of 13 years, June Meier.
A memorial service to celebrate Ken's life will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at 11 a.m. in the Mason Creek Community Center, 20201 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy. Details are posted on the Schmidt Funeral Home's website.
