Lloyd Durand

Lloyd John Durand, 87, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at his home in Houston, Texas. Lloyd was born to Carl and Olga Durand in New Orleans, LA.
The oldest son of three children, Lloyd attended St Peters school. Lloyd served in the Navy in WWII as a coxswain on the USS Long Island. After moving to Houston he began his career as an electrician, working for Bronk Electric for 33 years. Lloyd enjoyed volunteering as a Boy Scout leader with his son Joe, taking his family for sailboat rides, gardening and caring for a variety of pets. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 64 years; daughters, Janet Durand, Kathryn (James) Stuart, Susan (David) Walters; son, Joseph (Diane) Durand; sister, Joyce Wallace; grandchildren, Kyle, Casey (fiancé Emmy), James (fiance Ashley), Dulcie (fiancé Nolan) , Jolie, Justin, Caitlin, Makena. Lloyd is predeceased by brother Herbert, parents Carl and Olga. Lloyd will be remembered for his cheerfulness, humility, integrity, and devotion to his family. He took great joy in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic church, 4419 North Main in Houston at 11 am. Rosary prior to mass at 10:30. A celebration of Lloyd's life to follow at parish cafeteria. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.fisherhouse.org
