MARTHA JANE ALDRED

MARTHA JANE ALDRED beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the 12th of November 2010.Martha Jane was born to Jess Henry and Eleanor Tubb on the 27th of September 1924, in Sweetwater, Texas, where she was the fourth child of five children. She was an exemplary student in high school, was the Class Valedictorian, graduating at the age of 16. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin where she was in several organizations including Pi Beta Phi Sorority. While attending college she met the love of her life, Jack Aldred, and they were married in 1947. They were to have celebrated their 50th anniversary before Mr. Aldred's death in 1997.Martha Jane was a long time resident of Houston, Texas, and was actively involved in many civic organizations and events. She joined St. Philip Presbyterian Church in 1953 and was a devoted member and active volunteer up until her passing. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Blue Bird Circle for the last 28 years.Martha Jane is preceded by her parents, and husband, as well as her siblings: Gwen Dods, Mickey Rea, John Tubb and Moses Tubb. She is survived by her daughter Janey Aldred of Houston, and son Val Aldred and his wife Linda, also of Houston, and their children, Kelly Aldred, Christy Fuller and husband Russell Fuller, and Casey Aldred. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Gavin and Gage Fuller, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.A bright light of love, hope, and encouragement has passed from our witness and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Ervie Morse, as one of Martha Jane's dearest and devoted long time friends for their close relationship.A Memorial Service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 17th of November, at St. Philip Presbyterian Church, 4807 San Felipe in Houston.Immediately following the service, all are invited to join the family for a reception in the adjacent Fellowship Hall.The family wishes to thank the Vitas Hospice staff for their devotion and care provided to Martha Jane.In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Martha Jane's honor be directed to the St. Philip Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, or to the charity of one's choice.
