Bellmont, a caring, loving mother and friend, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Houston. She was born in Houston on March 15, 1924, the daughter of Lester Lewis Neuhaus and Carolyn Houseman Neuhaus, who predeceased her, along with her younger sister, Gloria Neuhaus Holder McMillan. Her husband, Ted Lutcher Bellmont, predeceased her. She is survived by four children, Carolyn Carmichael, Ted L. "Buzz" Bellmont, Jr., Michael Neuhaus Bellmont, and Christopher Lewis Bellmont and by numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Peggy attended River Oaks Elementary School, Lanier Middle School, and Lamar High School. She attended The University of Texas
at Austin where she pledged Tri-Delta and graduated in 1946. She was an active member of many organizations including the River Oaks Garden Club and River Oaks Country Club. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to the entire third floor staff at The Forum for their loving care of Peggy.
A memorial celebration will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013, in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 2450 River Oaks Blvd. The Rev. Jan Wiley Dantone will officiate. An inurnment will immediately follow the service in the Garden of the Resurrection. The family will greet friends at a reception in the Scout Room after the inurnment.
