Ralph Shoberg

Ralph Allison Shoberg, 75, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2012. He was born in Beeville, Tx on May 26, 1937 to Martin and Pauline Shoberg of Edna, Tx. After graduating from Edna High School, he obtained his BS in Chemistry from the University of Texas where he became a member of the Friar Society in 1960. Upon graduation, Ralph served in the US Army before joining the private sector.
As a serial entrepreneur and businessman, he owned and operated several companies including IPCI, Layne Texas Co, Savage Pipe, and HyperAlert. Friends knew him as a devoted outdoorsman and avid reader with a constant thirst for knowledge. Fortunately, Ralph was able to spend a good deal of his later years at his ranch outside Billings, Montana.
Ralph is survived by his two sons: Mark Shoberg of Austin, and his wife Nicole and two children: Andrew (5) and Allie (3); and John Shoberg of Amarillo and his wife Leah; and sister: Peggy Hansen and her husband Wilbert of El Campo. He will be greatly missed, loved, and remembered by his family, friends, and favorite companion (KD, his chocolate lab).
In lieu flowers, please consider making a donation to the Houston Public Library. A private burial service for family and friends will be held Friday January 4th at 11am at the Memory Gardens of Edna, Tx.
