R.C. "Bob" Addison

R.C. "BOB" ADDISON Bob Addison, age 88, a resident of Austin for three years, passed away Monday, October 12, 2003. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Bob attended Texas A&M. He was employed by Marathon Oil Company from 1938 until his retirement in August, 1981. Bob helped organize and was a charter member of both the North Texas Landmen's Association and the American Association of Professional Landmen. He was also a member of the Permian Basin Landmen's Association where he served as the Director for several years. Bob was particularly pleased with his involvement in the establishment of the Petroleum Land Management Degree Program at the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma. Bob considered his work as Land Manager Representative for the unitization of Yates Field to be his biggest professional accomplishment. Bob was associated with several community organizations, serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Parks and Recreation Department in Midland and the Commissioner of the Midland Junior Baseball Association where he coached and influenced the lives of many young men. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sue Addison: daughters, Lou Ellen Popovich of Austin and Betsy Addison King of Lubbock; sons, James Wilson Addison and William Wallace Addison of Houston; sisters, Ruth Ola Franklin and Dorothy Vaudeen Aston, both Wichita Falls; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2003 at Cooke-Walden Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Hampton-Vaughn Chapel in Wichita Falls, Texas. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Addison's honor to Hospice Austin or to the American Diabetes Association.
