Robert Linberger

Robert Paul Linberger left us on October 23, 2013 in Bellville, TX. Bob was born in Norristown, PA on May 2, 1927 to James Henry and Ruth Gamble Linberger. Prior to his Lansdale high school commencement, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy in April 1945 to serve his country during World War II. Bob attended Pierce Business School in Philadelphia, graduating in 1950. During this time, he fell in love with Georgine Bossert, and they wed in North Wales, PA on November 5, 1949. Upon graduation, he continued his federal service with the Department of the Navy as a civilian accountant.
After accepting a position with NASA in 1962 Bob, Georgie, and daughters moved to Deer Park. At the fledgling Manned Spacecraft Center, he assisted in the establishment of financial operations as part of the team that enabled man to reach the Moon. He devoted the remainder of his career to honing the financial and budgetary processes at what became the Johnson Space Center, retiring in 1979.
Bob served Deer Park as a city councilman for eight years, then for two terms as mayor, from 1977 to 1981. He was instrumental in the design and development of Deer Park's improved infrastructure. He was proud of accomplishments on his watch and remained passionate about the city he called home. Bob and Georgie were long-time members of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, where Bob served on church council many times.
Bob deeply loved Georgie, his wife of 52 years, their daughters, grandchildren, his brother and his family and always supported each of them. He exhibited love for his family through teasing, wisdom and advice and was revered by family and friends.
Bob is now reunited with his parents and Georgie. He leaves behind daughters Jane (Troy) Humphries of Seabrook and Nancy (Robert) Dornon of Bellville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Alan (Cathey) Linberger, Virginia Beach, VA and nieces.
Visitation will be held November 2, 2013 at Grand View Funeral Home 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena from 1-3 PM with funeral service following at 3 PM.
