Roy Cunningham

Roy Cunningham was born on June 28, 1927, in Houston, TX. He passed away October 26, 2012 in Houston, TX.
Survived By Daughter Jill Baker and son in law Joey, Son Jeff Cunningham and wife Robben, Grandchildren Jackson Baker, Jarred Baker and wife Tina, Jessica Barrett and husband William, Hannah Eschberger and husband Jon, Julee Cunningham and Austin Cunningham, Great-Grandchildren Drew Keaton Baker and Rylan Grace Barrett, Siblings Donald Cunningham and wife Leda, Ann Knight and husband Sam, Freddie and wife Carolyn Cunningham, and Jeanette Mitchell and husband DeLoin, As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by Wife, Regenia Cunningham, Brothers, Joe and Lynn Cunningham, Parents, Annie and Ralph Cunningham.
Roy was a survivor of the great depression. He was a part of the "Greatest Generation" and he helped build this country. He served in the U.S. Navy and later became a Fire Fighter and retired as a Captain of the crash crew at Intercontinental Airport, Houston. During the same time period, along with his wife Regenia they built a successful local company-Cunningham Gas Products. Roy was well respected in his field as well as personally among everyone that knew him. Whether he learned it from his father or through his role in his church, his generosity to those in need was one of his key traits.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 5pm to 7pm at Rosewood Funeral Home, Humble. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Monday, October 29, 2012 at Rosewood Humble Chapel, interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
The family has requested, in lieu of flowers those that may wish to make a donation to the 100 Club of Houston, just mention "In Memory of Roy Cunningham". Roy was a strong supporter of this organization as they assist families of both Police Officers and Fire Fighters who have been lost in the line of duty.
