Sterling Miller

Sterling Gunter Miller, 76, died April 10, 2013. He was born February 7, 1937 in Corsicana, Texas to Norma Sterling Miller and Cleo Gunter Miller. He was the grandson of Governor and Mrs. Ross Sterling.
Sterling attended Montrose, Lanier and St. Stephens Episcopal High School in Austin, Texas where he excelled in football and track. At The University of Texas, he became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he graduated from the University of Houston. As a petroleum landman, he was known for his broad knowledge of the early Texas oil industry.
He is survived by his daughter Katherine Duncan, her husband. Dr. Christopher Duncan, their son Sterling Duncan, and his daughter Dr. Alexandra Miller of Salt Lake City, Utah. Also, he is survived by his sisters Norma M. Williams of Houston, Marianne M. Parish of Glen Rose, Texas and Carol M. Perkins, her husband Willie Perkins of Willow Springs, Missouri; nieces and nephews Norma Williams Peddie, Edward J. Williams IV, Walter V. Williams, Donna Parish Buckner, Earl K. Parish, Jr., and Ross G. Parish. In addition, he is survived by his special friend Fay Warren Whitehead.
The family wishes to thank Drs. Roberto Lufchanawski, Paolo Angelini and J. Alberto Lopez for their extraordinary care of Sterling in his last years.
Following a private burial at Glenwood Cemetery, the family will receive friends at the Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home, 1734 West Alabama Street, Houston, Texas, 77098 on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at two o'clock in the afternoon.
