Sylvia Suhrland

Sylvia Suhrland, born March 14, 1915 in Nashville, Tennessee to Manuel and Gabrielle Frank. Died December 24, 2012. Predeceased by husband Carl Suhrland. Sylvia graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1936 with a major in Biology. During her working years, she was a Serologist at the Texas State Health Dept. at John Sealy Hospital Laboratory and Houston City Health Dept. Laboratory. She was a Research Assistant at Baylor College of Medicine in the Dept. of Microbiology from 1963-68. Her last position was in Medical Microbiology, Houston City Health Dept. Laboratory, 1972-83. In 1989 she was certified as an HIV Counselor and volunteered at the Montrose clinic until 1999. She received a Servie Award from the clinic in 2001. Survived by first cousins Stanley and Phyllis Frank and second cousins Richard and Kristin Frank, Robyn and David Smith.
