Thomas William Mullarkey, Jr., 82, of Spring, passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 3, 2013. Tom is survived by his wife Madeleine (Mallette), his children Thomas W., III, John (Lisa), Maureen (Steve) Miller, Marie (Tom) O'Connor, Edward Henriques, Marybeth (George) Milionis, sister Jean Sapp, his grandchildren and a large extended family. He is predeceased by his brother Martin, and his first wife Mary Therese (Condon). Tom met life with a boisterous song. He grew up on the south side of Chicago. After serving as a sergeant in the Korean War
, he earned an electrical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame
('56). In 1955, he married Terry. After her passing, he found love again with Madsie and they created a truly modern family. Ever the engineer, Tom was always building and tinkering. He built giant electrified PEACE and JOY signs for his parish in Oak Lawn, IL, and a backyard fort with extra material from the power plants he designed. Tom and Madsie came to Houston in 1977, where he quickly became an honorary Texan. Tom had a deep love for family, friends, faith and the Fighting Irish. His spirit, energy and belief love can conquer all will be deeply missed. The family will greet friends 10-11a.m., Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, TX with a funeral Mass to begin at 11a.m. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park, SH249. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tom's name to the St. Ignatius building fund. Go Irish!
