Campbell died at her home in San Antonio on November 10, 2013, following a brief illness. Verlyn Jeanette Miller was born in San Antonio on September 12, 1923 to Edna and Lee B. Miller. She moved to Fort Worth to teach after graduating from the University of Texas in 1945. There she met and married Dave Campbell, a returning Navy veteran. They lived in Fort Worth until 1962, when they moved to Houston. Dave and Verlyn retired to Wimberley in 1989 where they built a weekend home. In 1999 they moved to San Antonio where they enjoyed the remainder of their lives. Dave, her husband of 64 years, preceded her in death in February 2013.
Verlyn is survived by her three children: Cindy Brungart of Dallas, David Jr. and his wife Alison of Austin, and Liddy Breeden and her husband, Wynne, of Terrell, nine grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio at 1:30 pm on Friday, November 15.
