William Dandy

William Edwin
Dandy aged 81, passed away on December 12, 2013.
Ed was a beloved husband, father, and friend to many. After graduating from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1950, Ed served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. C.K. Bronson. He enjoyed a long career as an insurance executive, first with the Maryland Casualty Company and later as a Senior Vice President with the American General Insurance Company. Ed earned the professional designations of ARM (Associate in Risk Management) and CPCU (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter). From 1985-1988, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Texas Medical Liability Insurance Underwriting Association.
Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marcia M. Dandy, as well as his sister Frances Miller of Richmond, Virginia and brother Joseph Dandy of Kingsville, Maryland. He was devoted to his wife, his four children, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ed and Marcia enjoyed their retirement years dancing, traveling together and volunteering as lay pastors. Ed served as Trustee for Northwoods Presbyterian Church. His family and friends will remember him fondly for his humor and wit, his kindness and intellectual curiosity.
A service of thanksgiving and celebration of his life will be held at Northwoods Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 19th, at 1:00 pm.
