Margaret Ann Filer, 77, passed away on January 3, 2011. She was preceded in death by siblings, Katherine Bryan, Virginia Wigginton, and Edgar "Pete" Bacon. Ann is survived by sons, Jere Filer, Mark Filer and wife Margie, Troy Filer and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Katy Rittenoure, Jeremy, Mark Alan, Mary, Matthew, and Travis Filer; sisters, Lou Nunn, Carolyn Vibrock; brother, Carl Bacon Jr. and numerous other loving relatives. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Earthman Resthaven. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven with interment to follow in the Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.

I'll always remember the big hugs and Aunt Ann telling me "you're my favorite nephew"; even though she gave my brother's a big hug and said the same thing, it still made me feel good. And of course, Troy (in his early years) running through the house to his mommy and his Aunt Carolyn telling them what we (Tim, Charlie, Mike, Mark and Jere) were up too. Aunt Ann was very understanding and most of the time just smiled when she told us not to do it again.

Carolyn, Your sister was a fixture at the HNW Hospital Gift Shop nights and weekends for many years. She was often greeted from the hallway by hospital workers, some who probably didn't even know her name, but knew Ann could always be counted on a cheerful personal greeting. She often listened to strangers pouring out their grief over a loved one in the hospital, with honest concern and the right simple words to help ease their pain.
She was a joy to know.

Katherine and I, along with the kids, send our deepest condolences to you and your family. Though we only had the privilege of meeting her on a handful of occasions, we will sincerely miss her smile and warmth.
