Ginger and Girls and families,
Seeing this latest post reminded me that I had forgotten to add my 'golf ball story' to the list. My friend Mary Jane and I played a member/guest together and used the Jim Harrison ball for the round of play. I kept using my ball through the round, but MJ had to put her ball up because it kept getting her into trouble.
We did spend time discussing Jim and his qualities of life that make him a memorable person in our lives. We think of all of you often. Please know that I feel his spirit with me as I go around the course, I just wish he had a little better control of my swing! We still miss seeing his smiling face and warm welcome!!

Ginger, Jan & Jennifer,
My wife and I took a golf trip to Atlanta, along with five other couples. I played The Jim Harrison ball at Hamilton Mill Golf course in Jim's honor. Kept the ball in play until the last couple of holes when I hooked it into the stream. I hope someone found the ball and has kept it in play in special memory of Jim.

I can see why Jim had a great circle of friends. He was warm, charismatic and had a romantic streak. Jim and Ginger had brought new life to each other. While this time was brief, there is still much to be thankful for.
To a good soul.

I think I now know why these last months my intentions to call Jim nagged me. I thought of him so often and wanted to meet you, Ginger. As I read every tribute, I could identify and see the Jim that I've known for so many years, from the time he lived off Custer to the time he married and moved to The Woodlands. Jennifer and Jan, I never met you but I knew you. He adored you girls and wanted his friends to know how beautiful, how bright and later how successful you both were.....and, oh, the proof of that, (can't remember which it was) but there was not a store whose restroom you had not HAD to explore. How could he say no? Anyhow, he was a great friend that I was privileged to spend time with in TX, in Chicago, in many places where he exhibited that master salesmanship--from General Mills to Keebler. Ginger, while I didn't get a chance to meet you, I also felt I knew you through his description of the terrific woman he had met and married. What a guy! And I totally love his wish for a donation to ANY opponent of BHO. I am so sorry that I didn't know of the passing and the services. I would have been there. Jennifer, Jan and Ginger and all the others who mourn, may you find happiness in all the memories you have a terrific man. Pat Deckert

A week ago we said goodbye to our friend, Jim Harrison. We were surrounded by family and friends who came together to share memories and stories of a life well-lived. Ginger shared her story of meeting Jim and falling in love with a man described by many as a person of great character and faith. Jen and Jan shared stories of their relationship to a man with a generous and giving heart.
His friends gave small glimpses into the personality of a man who truly never met a stranger and who helped people in so many varied ways. They reminded everyone that his positive outlook on life was a tremendous strength to any who came close enough. He was a person who kept his promises and spread his wings over many who needed encouragement. He lived life to the max and only submitted to his life with the Father after fighting as long as he had the strength.
It was with great sorrow that we said goodbye and Godspeed, dear friend. We know that today you reside in the ultimate green fairway of Heaven and continue to watch over your family and friends. Many of us received a golf ball in your memory and we hope to use it one day for the amazing shot you always knew we had in us! Thank you for being a part of our lives and calling us your friend. We miss you and go around a corner where you once were, remembering your smile and encouragement. The ultimate peace has come to you!

Our thoughts and prayers are with every one of Jim's family. My wife and I were very lucky to have met Coach Harrison through The Woodlands High School golf program he so generously supported. He had an unbelievably uplifting spirit on the golf course. His positive attitude and his approach to supporting those young men and women on that golf team taught us how we should all treat one another. He was such a positive inspiration to my son and I truly wish I had just one more chance to thank him for that. Godspeed Coach Harrison.

My husband, Jim, is a first cousin, being Aunt Bonnie`s nephew. The two Jims met at the Roanoke, VA airport, some years ago, and my Jim said that he thought he was seeing himself, looking so much alike.
We visited Aunt Bonnie & Warren once in Plano, several times in Flordia, while in Plano we got to met some of the family, about 20 plus years ago. We feel we know you, because we keep in very close communication with Aunt Bonnie, now with Warren.
We want to express our love to you and know that you are in our prayers, we very much so care.

Jim and I had been friends for over 30 years. It started at General Mills and our paths crossed at various foodservice functions until we both ended up working at Keebler. I watched him work his magic with people for a long time. Anyone wanting to learn sales skills, he was the expert. His charisma was inherent and the energy and finesse made him a winner. He mentored many, many young individuals in their careers. They had the opportunity to learn from the best. His legacy in foodservice is well known by the people who worked with him and for him. On a personal note, he often mentioned the love and pride he had for his daughters. Since he has retired, my computer has been full of his emails. I will miss them very much as they formed more of a bond than one realizes until that connection is broken. Hearing about his pain towards the end broke my heart. So rest peaceful, my dear friend, in the arms of God.

Jim, We love you and we will miss you terribly. You were the best friend, dad, granddad anyone could ever have. We loved hearing your stories and especially about the family; you were so very proud of everyone and loved them dearly. Jim, you were one of those rare people the rest of us are lucky to meet once in our lifetime...a bigger-than-life personality, touching everyone you met with your incredible sense of humor and ready smile. I can't think of a single day when we were together that I wasn't laughing the whole time. Thanks for making Keebler/Windsor so much fun. You were a true professional and the best salesperson I have ever known! Your friendship has meant everything to our family over the past 20 years. Dave will miss his 'buddy Jim'. We'll see you again one day, though, for a round on a course that is sure to have a spectacular view!

Dear Ginger, Jan, Jennifer & family,

May you gain comfort from all the people who's lives were touched by Jim and may you feel God's presence and comfort in your grief. All of us who knew Jim realized very quickly he was a man of character, conviction, wit, and integrity. A true gentleman who loved God, his family, his country (and golf!), Jim had a zest for life and left a positive impression on everyone fortunate enough to be around him. A class act, he has set the bar high for all of us to aspire to. He will truly be missed, yet his legacy will live on. No doubt he has already drawn a crowd around him in heaven with his magnetic smile and personality. I feel thankful and very blessed to have called Jim my friend. God has now given him ultimate healing and eternal peace. Much love,

Our hearts go out to all of Jim's family and close friends. He will forever be remembered by our family. He made a profound impact on our son, Jordan. He was always there for him..rooting him on in all of the tournaments that he played at Carlton Woods. Even last week, when he was so week and sick, he had his laptop with him watching the scores. He was a very special man that will be always be in our hearts and prayers. Thank you, Jim, for the memories!

Jim was a loving, thoughtful, and great man and friend. I hope the following is of help in his loss:
"We know that our departed loved ones are enjoying God's presence(2 Corinthians 5:8). We also know that they are recognizable and conscious of their surroundings--just like the rich man and the beggar Jesus spoke of in Luke 16:22-23. Beyond that, we are left with this truth: God, in His matchless love and power, is planning a glorious reunion. Then, our eternal rejoicing will begin."

As a former TWHS golfer, just thought I'd share that Coach Harrison was one of those people who always would brighten my (or anybody else's) day. It didn't matter if I was 5 under or 10 over, he always would come up and tell me how great I am and how I was going to birdie the next hole. His optimism was second to none, and you couldn't help but have it rub off on you. He was a pleasure to be around and will be sorely missed. There will never be another man quite like him. He's now up there watching over all of us, and I'm sure he's already made God laugh...and probably birdie his next hole. We love you Coach

Region 807 condolences

On behave of Region 807 (from 1990) when Jim Harrison became our Region Manger at the Keebler Company, we would like to extend our condolences to the entire Harrison family. Jim will forever be in our memories because of his leadership and inter-personal skills that he emphasized to all of us at work. Because of Jim, we individually elevated ourselves to be more professional in both our business and personal life's. Jim always shared with us that in order to improve our salesmanship skills we needed to "make a horse thirsty versus just leading that horse to water".

I will not be able to make it to the celebration but am mailing a card, the uploaded picture and a check made payable to the USGA (United States Golf Association) for the family to forward to a local USGA pro so they may use it at their discretion to advance the game of golf to some local youngster.

In the picture (taken at our national meeting where Jim won RM of the Year), from left to right, Linda & Al from San Antonio, Townley & Sandy from Houston, Earl/Caren/Carl/Ron/Bob from Dallas/Ft. Worth. Taking the picture is Jeff Bane from San Antonio, not pictured is Liz Rios, Region Administrator.

With sincere sympathy,

Earl Bohlen and the entire 807 team

Ps I'm certain by now that Jim is getting caught up with his life long friend, John Ryan!

Jim's light has not diminished with his passing, on the contrary, his light will shine even brighter in every life that he touched. Jim was such a complete joy to be around and oh, how he loved to talk to everyone he encountered. I can't imagine Jim ever meeting a stranger without embracing a new friend within minutes. Jim had an infectious laugh and was a great story-teller, remembering every humorous detail and bringing laughter to everyone listening. What sweet memories he has left us all! I pray that each of you finds comfort knowing just how much Jim meant to all of his friends and that his memory and spirit will live forever in the hearts of all of us that loved him.

Jim, Thank you for sharing your sweet friendship and lots of laughs with me. I wll never forget you or your big smile and wicked sense of humor. See you on the other side my friend.

We all learned how to treat people from Jim. All around him learned a lot about life and people watching Jim interact with people. He will be missed. Mark Steinbauer

Jim, we know you've gone to a place where there are only "fairways and greens". We know you will enjoy that blessing. Thank you for your leadership in setting a wonderful example for young men and women to emulate. With loving regards, the Pennington Family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Dad holds so many special memories and stories of Jim back in his younger days. I will always hold dear to my heart the way he helped me when living in Texas and taking me to my first(any only) Dallas Cowboys game. He could light up a room just by personality. I am a better person because I knew Jim Harrison. Love and prayers, Judy Whited Burns
