Keely Hartsfield Obituary

Keely Warren Hartsfield, 54, passed away on March 10, 2014 in Houston, TX. She was born on May 14, 1959 in Goldsboro, NC to Henry and Frances Hartsfield. Keely is survived by her parents, sister Judy Hartsfield Gedies, nephews Robert Hartsfield Gedies and Michael Warren Gedies, as well as numerous family members and friends. She was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandmothers and her beloved Shelties Abbey and Tasha. Keely graduated from Texas A&M in 1982 with a Bachelor's in Business Management. She worked as a contractor for NASA, beginning with Singer Link and continuing with United Space Alliance until its Shuttle contract closure. Most recently, she worked for Clear Creek Independent School District. Keely loved animals and was an avid bird watcher; she could identify most birds by sight and sound. She and her family loved each other dearly and we will miss her so much.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM at Crowder Funeral Home - Webster. Interment will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Princeton, NC. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Keely's memory may do so to Armand Bayou Nature Center or the animal shelter of your choice.

I'm very saddened to read that Keely passed away 7 years ago, especially today on Challengers 35th anniversary. Keely's cubicle at Singer-Link was on the other side of mine. She and I both had stayed while most everyone had gone to lunch that day. One of the Manager's came out of his office hollering the Shuttle blew up. Keely was hysterical and you couldn't console her. I knew what her thoughts were, it could have been her Dad on that Mission. Rest in peace, Keely. You were so much fun, especially on Margarita Day at Laredo's Too.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Keely since our Singer Link days and we worked in the same building at NASA (#30). She was always upbeat and a great person to be around. Heaven has truly recalled one of its angels.

I cannot tell you how shocked I am to know about Keely's passing. She was such a wonderful person. I am sorry that I knew her for such a short time but am so thankful for that time. I looked forward to seeing her every Sunday morning in Bible Class and the questions she always had were always questions we all had but didn't know how to ask. I will miss her terribly and look forward to one day seeing her again in heaven.

Keely and I worked at Link together, and over the years we kept crossing paths at JSC and in Clear Lake. Keely never was anything but sweet, thoughful and even through the separation from JSC and all those connections, remained positive and looking for "what's next". We are all going to miss her. I pray for her family - death of a child is never easy or a natural thing to accept. God bless you Keely - you will be remembered in my prayers!

I am so shocked and saddened by the news of Keelys passing. Keely and I were teammates on The Falcon Flairs at Clear Lake Highschool. I ran into Keely several times at Baywind Skilled Nursing and Rehab just a few months ago while I was there taking care of my mother and Keely her father. Our focus was not on catching up but rather offering tender hugs and support for each other since we both had a parent in a nursing home. Keely will be missed terribly by all who knew her giving caring sweet and down to earth spirit. My heart breaks for Keely's family and friends..especially for her precious father who she clearly loved dearly. In Jesus's name I pray Keely is now overjoyed in Heaven with Jesus where there are no more tears and no more pain.. only the joy we all Hope to find someday in Heaven. Amen.
