ELAINE HOLDEN CURL loving wife and mother passed away peacefully at her home in Galveston, Texas on October 3, 2009. A memorial service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77025, Father Donald Schwarting, celebrant. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall.Elaine was born on January 3, 1929 to Irene Anne Holden and Eugene Holden in Dallas, Texas. She and her husband James raised five daughters in Houston, Texas and were members of St. Vincent de Paul Church for twenty six years. She was a working talented kitchen designer in Houston and Dallas, Texas for over twenty years. She was also an accomplished artist with a special talent for painting in water colors and loved playing the piano.Preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Curl Tweeboom, her mother Irene Holden, Aunt Peggy Phillips and Uncle Ronald C. Phillips she leaves behind her husband of sixty one years, James M. Curl, daughters Janet Baker, Pamela Creekmore, Sandra Speich and Lynda Willke; sons-in-law Jay Baker, Knoxville, TN., Sam Speich and John Willke, Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Alexis Guerry Bogo, Holden and Wills Baker, Courtney, April and Tanner Creekmore, Brandon and Katelyn Speich, Olivia and India Willke and Gretchen Tweeboom; great grandchildren, Ashton and Helena Creekmore, Blake Bogo and Cameron Aktar; numerous other relatives and friends.The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and medical staff at UTMB, Gulf Health Care Center of Galveston and Hospice Care Team of Texas City who took such excellent care of our wife and mother during her illness.Friends may sign the register book and send the family condolences at www.CarnesBrothers.com/contactus.
